The Department of Environment of the Elda City Council, together with the Association Friends of Astronomy of Elda, is organizing an activity to observe the Moon. This initiative is part of the International Moon Observation Night, a global event aiming to bring astronomy closer to the public and foster interest in the night sky.
The session will take place on Saturday, September 19th, starting at 9:00 PM, at the Casa Colorá. Attendees will be able to use telescopes to view the Moon and learn details and curiosities about our natural satellite.
This proposal is part of the international event ‘Observe the Moon Night’, promoted by NASA, which annually invites people worldwide to observe the Moon and share the experience as a way to disseminate science and astronomy.
Cristina Rodríguez Armigen, Councilor for Environment and Nature, highlighted the municipal commitment to “continue generating spaces to bring science and knowledge closer to citizens in a participatory and attractive way”. She added that “observing the Moon, knowing our sky, and discovering what is above our heads each night is also a way to value our environment and spark curiosity, especially among the younger generation”.
The councilor encouraged the public to participate and emphasized the collaboration with the Association Friends of Astronomy of Elda, “whose work makes it possible to bring astronomy to Elda and offer highly interesting educational activities”.
Interested individuals must register in advance using a QR code available on the event poster or via a provided link. Places are limited, and the aim is for the Casa Colorá to become a meeting point to enjoy astronomy and the observation of our satellite.
