The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, accompanied by the Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Diana Morant, and the Government Delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé, visited the new facilities of the spice company Carmencita in Novelda. The company recently completed its move to this new factory, coinciding with its centenary celebration.
During his visit, the delegation toured the different production areas. In the pepper grinding room, company technicians explained the processes for distinguishing the spice's quality and the olfactory differences between fresh and stored products.
Subsequently, they visited the warehouse, where Sánchez learned firsthand about the saffron airing process, a key phase for preserving its properties. A worker explained the step-by-step procedure, and the president actively participated by putting on gloves.
Carmencita's managers also showed him the manual weighing and packaging of saffron doses, an essential ingredient in Mediterranean gastronomy, highlighting the care taken in each stage of its treatment.
The visit continued through the labeling and packaging areas for spices such as oregano. In these spaces, Sánchez spoke with employees about production rates and the organization of daily work in the new plant.
The tour concluded in the laboratory, where he was informed about the origin of the different spices used by the company and presented with new products like 'toppings' for salads and toast. Sánchez had the opportunity to taste some of these mixtures, during a visit focused on the activities of this historic company in the food sector.
