The Elda City Council has announced the completion of renovation works on La Purísima street, one of the most emblematic streets in the city's Historic Center. The works, part of the ‘Elda parte de ti’ Plan, had a budget of 349,979 euros and aim for a more human, accessible, modern, and sustainable city.
The mayor of Elda, Rubén Alfaro, highlighted the importance of this action in a historic space that has been key to the city's growth. "It is another important milestone in the process of recovering the old town, in valuing Elda's heritage and historical legacy," he stated.
The work focused on a 160-linear-meter section, between Colón and Natalia Tendero Gil streets, establishing a single platform to homogenize the street's image. The pavement has been renewed with cobblestones and light granite curbs, with longitudinal limestone strips.
Additionally, the drinking water network has been updated, new drains for rainwater have been created, and a section of the sewage network of about 60 meters has been renewed. New trees and plants with a drip irrigation system have also been installed, and bollards have been placed where necessary.
In the coming days, new light fixtures will be installed over the roadway area to comply with efficiency and energy saving guidelines, and the necessary wiring will be installed on the new poles.
