The adaptation and improvement works at the Bancal Fondo Park in Novelda are nearing their end after weeks of intensive work. These actions have allowed for the renovation and modernization of this public space with an investment of 54,000 euros.
Mayor Fran Martínez presented the intervention, which is part of the actions the Novelda City Council is carrying out for the recovery of public spaces. The cancellation of the municipality's historical debt has enabled these investments in infrastructure.
The main improvement involved the installation of 1,600 square meters of state-of-the-art artificial turf, designed to withstand wear and tear in outdoor environments. Its installation included the creation of a 580-meter concrete perimeter, geotextile mesh, and 35,000 kilograms of gravel to level the ground.
The project was completed with the full replacement of the irrigation system, improvements to existing plants and trees, renovation of the sand area in three flowerbeds, and the installation of new, more modern and functional bins and ten benches.
In addition to enhancing the park's appearance, the intervention increases its functionality. The artificial turf is draining and retains moisture, promoting plant growth. As the mayor explained, the subsoil, which was fill material from the demolition of the old canvas factory, previously hindered vegetation development.
“"We can provide the means, but maintaining it is everyone's task."
The mayor called on citizens to behave civilly to help maintain the space in optimal condition.
