To use this feature, registered residents of the municipality simply need to enter their national ID number (DNI) on the platform and click the ‘consult’ button. The system will then redirect them to Google Maps, showing the exact location of their polling station and voting booth.
In addition to this function, the link dedicated to the General Elections on the municipal website provides an interactive map of all polling stations in the municipality and a frequently asked questions section. This section addresses queries about what a polling station is, how to know if you are part of one, what duties you will have to perform if selected, and whether any offenses or fines apply.
The Mayor of Riba-roja de Túria, Robert Raga, emphasized that this tool "significantly enhances accessibility, as citizens can access the municipal platform at any time to find out where they can exercise their right to vote in their municipality".
The implementation of this new tool was a costly process for the City Council, as data from the INE (National Statistics Institute) had to be imported. However, it is expected to benefit both residents and the internal operations of the council. "It's another mechanism for participation that makes life easier for people, in addition to the day-to-day operations of the City Council, as it will alleviate the constant stream of calls received in the days leading up to the election to obtain this information," Raga added.
