The forest fire declared in the Serra de la Calderona, between Segorbe and Gátova, was stabilized this Sunday after three days of intensive firefighting and surveillance efforts.

Confirmation of the fire's stabilization arrived on Sunday morning, as reported by the Generalitat Valenciana Emergency Center (112CV). The favorable evolution of the flames allowed for the demobilization of the Military Emergencies Unit (UME) personnel, who had been working on the ground.
Throughout Saturday night into Sunday, six units and six water-bombing vehicles from the Generalitat's forest firefighters, along with four special units and four forest brigades from Castellón and Valencia, maintained surveillance and extinguishing tasks to prevent the fire's spread and to stop the flames from regaining ground.
The fire began on Thursday night, allegedly due to a lightning strike. During the initial days, the flames' advance, aided by meteorological conditions, necessitated the evacuation of residents from Gátova and kept the surrounding municipalities of the Serra Calderona on alert.
With the stabilization, firefighting teams continue with special surveillance to prevent potential flare-ups. The partial demobilization of the deployment signifies a reduced response to a fire that has kept the area on edge for the past few days.
