Amidst great anticipation, the four Obreras and 26 Mayorales made their official debut, drawing a large crowd of residents to the La Alameda venue. The event, which signals the start of the municipality's most special days in El Camp de Túria, was attended by local and invited authorities.
Music was another highlight of the inaugural day, with performances by the Colla Xé que Burrà, the band of the Centro Artístico Musical de Bétera, and the band from the Italian town of Pont-Saint-Martin, celebrating the 25th anniversary of its twinning with Bétera this year.
The night's highlight was the grand arrival of the Obreras at the venue. Mireia García Ricart, the first Obrera Fadrina, entered accompanied by the Councilor for Festivities, Manuel Pérez; Daniela Ferriol Fuentes, the second Obrera Fadrina, was escorted by Rafael García, Councilor for Employment. Meanwhile, the first Obrera Casada, Nahalie Martínez Arnal, was welcomed by Alberto Cretazz, the mayor of Pont-Saint-Martin, who formalized the twinning in 2001. Lastly, the second Obrera Casada, Gely Garañana Escribano, was accompanied by Toni Grande, president of the 'Vol Lliure' firecracker club and Master of Ceremonies for the 2026 Festivities.
Toni Grande provided a historical overview of Bétera's "centuries-old devotion to the Alfábega and the firecracker," emphasizing that "the offering of the Alfàbegues and the offering of firecrackers on August 15th are acts of love, respect, and sentiment for our traditions".
The Mayor of Bétera, Elia Verdevío, concluded the event, stressing the "responsibility of the Obreras and Mayorales in representing Bétera with a tradition inherited from past generations, which, thanks to everyone's effort, will endure over time." She added that "caring for Bétera means caring for our identity and our traditions".
The presentation marks the beginning of festivities that will culminate on Saturday, August 15th, with the 'Rodà de les Alfàbegues'. Traditionally, 16 majestic alfàbegues will parade through the streets under 11,600 kilos of confetti, before the Obreras Fadrinas offer them to the Virgen de la Asunción.
Gunpowder, another symbol of the festivities, will take center stage on August 15th with the 'Coet de Luxe' at Placeta del Sol, fired by the Obreras and Mayorales. At night, the 'Cordà' on José Gascón Sirera street and the 'Coetà' throughout the municipality will demonstrate that Bétera is a "poble coeter" (firecracker town).
On Monday, August 17th, the 'Coetà Infantil' will take place, followed by the 'Coetà del Gos' at night, a pyrotechnic spectacle that will light up Bétera's sky. Additionally, the festivities will feature notable musical performances at the La Alameda venue, including concerts by Marlon on Tuesday, August 18th, and Demarco Flamenco on Saturday, August 22nd.
