The Valencian town of Bétera will once again become a sporting hub on Saturday, September 26th, with the celebration of the Pirates Race, under the slogan 'La Batalla del Barro' (The Battle of Mud). This themed obstacle race (OCR) returns to the municipality with a circuit designed to test participants' endurance, agility, and strength in a natural setting.
The race will cover a distance of 8 kilometers and feature over 30 technical and challenging obstacles, including ropes, barbed wire, water zones, mud, and suspended structures. The experience is designed for both seasoned athletes and amateurs.
The Mayor of Bétera and Councilor for Sports, Elia Verdevío, highlighted the event's significance, stating, “The Pirates Race is much more than a sporting event; it's about overcoming obstacles and joining forces for a cause that is important for all of society.” The day will bring together hundreds of participants, clubs, and families, fostering camaraderie and a positive atmosphere.
Beyond the competition, the Pirates Race is dedicated to raising awareness about diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a type of pediatric cancer that requires visibility and continuous support for medical research.
