The 43rd edition of Sagunt a Escena, organized by the Institut Valencià de Cultura, will close its program on August 23rd at the Antiga Moreria with 'Carrer 024', the new work by choreographer Sol Picó.

The piece, arriving for the 30th anniversary of Picó's company, explores loneliness as a silent epidemic of the 21st century, influenced by individualism, technology, and the modern pace of life. It is a large-scale street performance that revisits iconic elements from the creator's previous works, who received the National Dance Award for Creation in 2016.
According to Sol Picó, the piece reflects on unwanted and sought-after loneliness, stating, "Real communities have been replaced by virtual communities that demand less commitment, fragile ones, which instead of enriching bonds, have made them more superficial, more inconsequential, leading many people to a sense of isolation and emptiness."
The choreography features five displaced performers struggling not to fall from an airplane ladder, while another five attempt to hold them back. The music ranges from classical pieces to folklore covers, accompanied by soundscapes and spoken word to create an immersive atmosphere. Concurrently, a large abstract canvas inspired by Matisse's La Danse is displayed, evoking the beauty of the human body and the search for connection.
The work will culminate in a hopeful song of reunion, aiming to reconnect with the collective and generate community vibration. Since founding her company in 1994, Sol Picó's work is known for its genre-blending, strength, precision, and dynamism, often incorporating humor and spectacular stage design.
