The project, budgeted at €402,277.68 (including VAT) with an execution period of 25 weeks, aimed to upgrade the building, a declared Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC). However, after being put out to tender a few months ago, no company has shown interest in carrying out the works, leading to the tender being declared void.
The intervention intended to resolve humidity problems detected in the old stately home, located on the ascent to the Castle. According to the project drafted by architect Fernando Cos-Gayón, the dampness, visible as stains and peeling on the walls, will be controlled using an electro-osmosis system to tackle rising damp without invasive procedures.
Action is also planned for the facade facing Dolors street, where a longitudinal gutter will be installed to collect runoff water and prevent it from wetting the wall. Additionally, a drip edge under a window will be replaced, and humidity stains on a false ceiling will be addressed.
Other improvements include repairing or replacing the wooden laminate flooring, which shows irregularities and cracks, and upgrading the audiovisual system to a new-generation digital one. Deteriorated exhibition panels will also be repaired or replaced to enhance the visitor experience.
