Residents of Arenales del Sol, both permanent and second-home owners, are seeing their commercial options improve with the approval of the building permit for a new Masymas supermarket. This establishment, which will span over 5,000 square meters including parking, joins the already commenced construction of a new Eroski in the same district.
The Governing Board of Elche has given the green light for the construction of a commercial premises for the retail sale of supermarket goods. The new Masymas store will be located at Calle Albacete, 12, at the corner of Paseo Soria and Avenida San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
The plot covers an area of 15,799 square meters, of which 5,749 square meters will be built. Of this, 2,493 sqm will be for commercial space and 3,255 sqm for underground parking. The company estimates that construction will take at least a year, following the energy efficiency model of its store in Calpe.
With this future opening, Arenales del Sol will have its third supermarket. Currently, the city has two chain establishments in the urban center, one on Avenida de Alicante and another on Jorge Juan. The company opened a store in Calpe this year and inaugurated stores in Dénia and San Vicent del Raspeig in 2025. The chain closes the year with 115 supermarkets across the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia.
This good news for the district follows the recent opening of a smaller Eroski supermarket, albeit with extended hours, at 169 Calle Bahía. With the new Masymas opening, a long-standing demand from residents, especially during the summer when the population doubles, is being met.
