Elche CF has started the season in Primera División with a 1-1 draw in its trip to the Abanca Riazor stadium to face Deportivo de La Coruña.

This result marks a milestone for the club, as it ends a half-century streak without managing to score away from home on the opening matchday of the league championship.
The last time the team scored in an away debut in the top flight was in the 1976-77 season, when they drew goalless against Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium.
Since that precedent, Elche had chained five consecutive away openers with defeat, failing to score a single goal in any of these matches against rivals such as Racing de Santander, Real Valladolid, Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona, or Betis.
