The door-to-door pruning collection service in El Camp d’Elx, provided by UTE Elche and the City Council, has surpassed 169,000 kilograms collected in the last month. This figure represents 40,000 kilos more than the monthly average so far this year and a 16% increase compared to July 2025. The initiative, aimed at private residents in the rural area, has seen its data surge in recent years.
The number of service requests attended in the last 30 days has also increased exponentially, reaching 1,690. This is 400 more than the monthly average of the past year and a 21% rise compared to July 2025. This increase is considered significant given the vast area covered by the service and the distances the trucks must travel.
To meet this growing demand, a new team has been added to the operation, which is now working in the afternoon and complements the two existing morning teams.
The pruning collection service is free and operates from Monday to Friday. To request it, residents must send a WhatsApp message to UTE Elche's incident line (680 363 774), label their pruning containers in El Camp d´Elx and the urban area, and pre-arrange the collection at their doorstep.
Pruning must be deposited tied or bagged, and dry trunks or large branches from trees or palm trees are not collected. The maximum quantity per request is approximately 1 cubic meter, and adequate access for the heavy-duty service vehicles to the property must be guaranteed.
The service was launched in May 2022 to promote selective collection at the source, preventing uncontrolled dumping and inadequate filling of containers. The collected materials are transported to an authorized facility for subsequent treatment.
