The Local Government Board of the Elche City Council has greenlit the awarding of the Silver Medal for Police Merit to a total of 84 officers, sergeants, and inspectors. These distinctions recognize their professional careers and services rendered, which on occasion have gone beyond the strict fulfillment of duty. Additionally, 57 diplomas have been approved for members of the Elche Local Police Force for various police interventions.
The Councilor for Institutional Relations and spokesperson for the Local Government Board, Juan de Dios Navarro, announced that these awards will be presented during the patron saint's day ceremony for the Elche Local Police, scheduled for September 27th.
In other news, approval has been given to the project for the second phase of the potable water supply to the Llano de San José district. This initiative, part of the plan to improve water supply in the Western Camp d’Elx, includes work on the Casilla Alta and Sevilla roads, as well as a service road along the N-340 highway, between Elche and Crevillent. The project has a tender budget of 509,149 euros (VAT included) and a five-month execution period, involving the installation of 973 meters of potable water piping and five hydrants.
Through this intervention, it is anticipated that 27 homes in the Llano de San José district, along with the local Civic Center, will have access to potable water. The next step will be the approval of the tender by the Board of Directors of Aigües d’Elx.
Furthermore, the urbanization project for sector E-18 has been approved, which plans for the construction of 126 homes in the southeastern part of the city, near the Palmerales sports center. This low-density residential sector includes minimum plot sizes of 250 square meters, green areas, and spaces for educational-cultural facilities.
The Councilor for Municipal Strategy, Francisco Soler, highlighted that this step will help bring urban sectors, pending for decades, to fruition, completing the city's urban development and generating much-needed housing.
Finally, authorization has been granted for the drafting and processing of the modified project to construct 6 kindergarten classrooms and a gymnasium at the C.E.I.P. Rodolfo Tomás Samper, as part of the Plan Edificant. The works, awarded to the company Media Caña S.L. for 2.8 million euros, will have their execution deadline extended by two months due to technical reasons, including the need for a second evacuation exit from the dining hall and subsoil complexities.
