The Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), in Mexico, has awarded the distinction of Affiliate Professor to José Antonio Moreno Murcia, a professor at the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) and researcher at the Sport Research Center (CID). This recognition, presented by the rector of the Mexican university, Santos Guzmán López, acknowledges a 30-year career in university teaching, over a thousand publications, and the supervision of more than 30 doctoral theses.
The Affiliate Professor status distinguishes specialists whose expertise and contributions aid in the academic development of UANL. In the case of the UMH researcher, the award highlights both his scientific output and his dedication to training faculty and new researchers, as well as applying knowledge to professional practice.
Moreno Murcia's academic work has focused on the study of motivation, teaching styles, and support for autonomy, with particular attention to their relationship with learning, well-being, and physical activity. He has also developed a line of work in aquatic education and competence, aimed at improving teaching processes and promoting a safe and healthy relationship with the aquatic environment.
The appointment also recognizes his collaboration with the Faculty of Sports Organization (FOD) at UANL, through research, training, and academic exchange activities. This relationship helps strengthen ties between both universities and facilitates scientific collaboration between Spain and Mexico.
