The Orihuela City Council has decreed the suspension of municipal public events for October 29, 30, and 31, in mourning for the victims of the tragic train accident that occurred in Urda (Toledo). The decision follows the three days of official mourning declared by the Spanish Government.

The mayor of Orihuela, Pepe Vegara, has made this decision as a sign of respect and solidarity towards the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragedy. The suspension will be effective from 00:00 on Thursday, October 29, until 24:00 on Saturday, October 31.
During this period, flags outside municipal buildings will fly at half-mast, in accordance with the Royal Decree declaring official mourning. The decree specifies that these measures will not affect the holding of sessions by municipal collegiate bodies.
Therefore, the ordinary plenary session scheduled for Thursday, October 29, will proceed as convened. Likewise, the provision of municipal public services will continue.
On behalf of all citizens, the Orihuela City Council extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died, as well as its support and solidarity to the injured and all those affected by this tragic accident.
