The meeting focused on the situation of students from Virgen de la Puerta, as well as those from the schools Nuestra Señora de Monserrate de Molins and Nuestra Señora del Pilar de La Campaneta, which are currently hosting the displaced pupils. This encounter follows up on the meeting held last Friday with families.
Vegara emphasized the importance of direct contact with the educational communities. "Families need information, certainty, and to know what steps are being taken. My commitment is to continue talking with them, listening to their needs, and working to ensure this provisional situation lasts as little time as possible," he stated.
In this context, the mayor has requested an urgent meeting with the Conselleria de Educación (Regional Ministry of Education) to jointly analyze the situation, review the status of potential alternatives, and advance towards a solution that minimizes the displacement period for the students.
The City Council will also present the findings of its latest municipal technical report on CEIP Virgen de la Puerta, which concludes that teaching activities can be provisionally maintained with the planned interventions. Vegara reiterated the Council's willingness to collaborate with the regional administration and provide all necessary technical and urban planning information.
"This is not about confrontations between administrations. We need to sit down, put all the information on the table, and find the best solution for these children. That is what I will propose in this meeting," the mayor noted.
Concurrently, the City Council is working on identifying locations for provisional classrooms to regroup the students of Virgen de la Puerta while a definitive solution for the center is developed. The mayor has affirmed that he will continue to update the AMPAs and educational communities on any progress.
