The fire alert was received on Sunday at 3:30 PM. The rapid spread of the flames, which were approaching several homes and the road, prompted the immediate activation of the firefighting response.
Firefighters from the Crevillente, Elche, and Orihuela stations participated in the operation, along with the Vega Baja reserve unit and a helicopter. Forestry firefighters were also deployed, including two water tenders, two brigades, and another aerial unit.
The Provincial Consortium deployed a Command and Control Unit (UMJ), a Heavy Urban Pump (BUP), two Heavy Water Tankers (BNP), and a Heavy Forest Pump (BFP). The operation involved a sub-officer, a sergeant, two corporals, and eleven firefighters.
Extinguishing efforts successfully stabilized the fire at 5:51 PM, after several hours of intensive work to prevent the flames from advancing towards houses and the highway. No injuries were reported.
Work to fully extinguish the fire and secure the area is ongoing.
