The project, which began on June 15 and was awarded to Involucra S.L. for 329,597.39 euros, has a maximum execution period of four months. However, the part concerning direct access to the school is expected to be completed sooner.
The Councilor for Education, Susana Miralles, highlighted that the works are proceeding as planned and already show the transformation the new center's environment will undergo. "This is a necessary action so that the school has adequate, safe, and functional access," she added.
The project is divided into two main areas. The first includes adapting the road surrounding the center, traffic management, and creating a new outdoor parking area with spaces for light vehicles, people with reduced mobility, and school buses. Pedestrian routes are also being conditioned to separate traffic and enhance safety.
The second part of the action involves creating a new pedestrian and cycle path next to the old CV-935 road. This route will connect the school's surroundings with the homes in El Gabato, improving communication with nearby residential areas and the urban center.
The works include earthmoving, paving, curb installation, drainage, signage, and adaptation of existing networks. Furthermore, the overall image of the area is being improved, completing the integration of the educational center into the urban fabric.
Miralles emphasized the importance of complementing the construction of a new school with an environment prepared for daily traffic, providing sufficient space for pedestrians, bicycles, vehicles, and school transport. She also noted that the new path will improve the connection with El Gabato and offer a safer alternative for walking or cycling.
Finally, the route from the urban center to CEIP El Gabato will be adapted with 'Camí al Col·legi' (Walk to School) signage, following the model of other schools in Almoradí, to encourage walking and promote child autonomy, a cornerstone of the 'City of Children' initiative that the municipality has been part of since 2017.
