The 24th Traditional Crafts Fair in Sant Jordi has concluded with a very positive balance, making the town one of the main meeting points for inland tourism over the weekend. The event, declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, has filled the town's streets and squares with activity, crafts, and tradition, featuring the participation of over a hundred artisans and live demonstrations of traditional trades.
Throughout the two days, residents and visitors were able to learn firsthand about trades such as pottery, basket weaving, blacksmithing, woodworking, beekeeping, soap making, antique restoration, and stone carving. This program has served to highlight a cultural heritage that, in some cases, is at risk of disappearing.
The mayor of Sant Jordi, Iván Sánchez Cifre, highlighted the "magnificent atmosphere" experienced over the weekend and stated that the fair's success demonstrates it is a "benchmark" capable of attracting visitors and making Sant Jordi an inland tourism destination.
Sánchez Cifre expressed satisfaction with the fair's response, which has filled the municipality with life and allowed families to enjoy a proposal combining tradition, culture, crafts, gastronomy, and leisure. He also thanked the work of the artisans, associations, establishments, and municipal workers.
The program included craft demonstrations, musical performances such as that of the Bombos i Tambors de Sant Jordi group, and a musical afternoon on Saturday. On Sunday, the fair opened with new demonstrations and concluded with an afternoon featuring Generació Z.
Gastronomy was another major attraction, with a food area in the Plaza de la Iglesia and a space dedicated to craft beers and wine at the Fossar Vell.
The mayor emphasized the tourism potential of local heritage and traditions, stating that the goal is to consolidate the fair as a key event and a window to showcase the municipality's offerings, attracting visitors and generating activity.
