On Friday, October 2nd, 2026, Aiora will celebrate the International Day of Older Persons with a series of events organized by the City Council. The day will begin at the Plenary Hall at 12:00 PM with a tribute to Don Francisco Ortiz Ávila, who will be appointed Mayor for a Day of the town.
During this event, the video “Mujeres de Ayora: referentes, cuidadoras y resilientes” will be screened, which won the award “Construyendo Municipios Igualitarios de la Comunitat Valenciana. Femigualtat, femcomunitat 2026”.
Subsequently, at 1:30 PM, the Glorieta Square will host a free celebratory meal. Older persons interested in attending must register at the City Council's Information Desk, the Residencia - Centro Mixto, or the Casa de la Cultura. Dependent individuals may register an accompanying person. The deadline for registration is Friday, September 25th, at 12:00 PM.
The meal will include an 'ajo-mortero' (garlic-mortar) contest for registered participants, with a maximum of 15 participants. They must bring their own mortar, as the ingredients will be provided by the City Council. Following the meal, there will be a musical performance, “Tarde de Copla”, by Celia Mancebo, in the Glorieta.
