The Ontinyent City Council has presented the fourth edition of the Coca de Fira Contest, which this year advances the professional contest to November 4th at the Textile Museum and keeps the amateur contest for November 16th at Sala Gomis, with a total of 1,800 euros in prizes.

The Councilor for Fair, Festivals, and Traditions, Àngels Muñoz, detailed the changes in the organization of this gastronomic contest, supported by the Tourism area of the Provincial Council of Valencia, the Commerce Association IN, and the Association of Hoteliers of Ontinyent (AHVAL).
The professional category, with prizes totaling 1,000 euros (800 for the best traditional 'coca' and a 200 euro honorable mention for innovation), will be held on November 4th to facilitate participation from hospitality establishments. The winner will have a prominent role during the November Fair and will join the jury for the amateur contest.
The amateur contest will take place on November 16th, offering cash prizes of 300 euros for the first place and 200 for the second, in addition to consumption vouchers for associated businesses of Comerç IN and AHVAL. In total, 1,800 euros will be awarded across both categories.
This year, the tasting of amateur 'cocas' will be blind, and a raffle of local products will be held among participants, including copies of the cookbook 'La cuina de Carmina', organic olive oil, and cured meat selections.
Estefania Conejero, from Comerç IN, encouraged participation and local consumption, while José Seguí, president of AHVAL, highlighted the quality of local gastronomy and the authentic recipe of Ontinyent's traditional 'coca'.
Registration is open until November 2nd. The City Council and collaborating entities invite bakers, hoteliers, and the general public to participate or attend this local gastronomic event.
