The Ontinyent City Council has secured a 580,000 euro grant from the Valencian Employment and Training Service (Labora) to launch the 'Ontinyent Evoluciona' employment workshop, which will create 26 jobs combining training and work.

The workshop will provide 20 positions for working students, ten in culinary arts and ten in administration, along with six jobs for the program's management, teaching, and administration. Selected participants will be hired from day one with a training contract and will receive the minimum wage. The activity is scheduled to begin on December 1st, in the afternoon.
The mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted that this grant “is an example of how municipal investments in infrastructure can translate into new opportunities for citizens, by facilitating access to public training and employment programs.” Rodríguez pointed out that having an accredited training center allows them to apply for grants and obtain funds for employment.
“

"Today we see it very clearly, as having a training center that allows us to accredit classrooms makes it possible for us to apply for a competitive grant and obtain almost 600,000 euros to allocate to employment."

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Natàlia Enguix, explained that Ontinyent's initiative was among the highest-scoring projects approved in the province of Valencia. She emphasized the quality of the proposal and the facilities at the Textile Museum's Training Center, which has enabled the city to pursue this opportunity after more than a decade. The facilities, supported by European EDUSI funds and the Provincial Council of Valencia, are accredited classrooms.
The theoretical part of the administration course will take place at the Training Center, while practical training will be conducted in various municipal departments. The culinary training will be held at the UNED building.
The director of Espai Labora in Ontinyent, José Luis Estornell, congratulated the City Council and stressed the value of employment workshops as a tool for labor insertion and the recovery of transversal skills. He noted that these programs not only offer a pathway to employment but also allow for continued training and enhanced professional qualifications.
Interested individuals must be registered as job seekers. The selection process will follow Labora's criteria, prioritizing those facing greater difficulties in accessing the labor market. Registration can be done through the Punt Labora application or the Labora website.
The deadline to apply for the six management, teaching, and administration positions opens on October 16th and closes on October 20th via the Ontinyent City Council's electronic headquarters. For the 20 working student positions, registration will be open until October 25th through Labora.
