Ontinyent City Council has awarded a contract for 48,000 euros to improve the sustainable urban drainage system at CEIP Bonavista, aiming to mitigate the effects of torrential rains.

The local company Construcciones y Promociones Mancebo-González SL will be responsible for executing the works. This intervention is supported by funding from the Provincial Council of Valencia, from an extraordinary call for the prevention of natural disasters in 2025. The total aid received by Ontinyent amounts to 125,000 euros, intended to strengthen the response capacity against extreme weather events.
The Councilor for Territory, Óscar Borrell, highlighted that this action is another step towards enhancing the safety and proper functioning of the educational space against intense rainfall, phenomena expected to become more frequent. Borrell also emphasized the importance of the works being carried out by a local company, thereby contributing to the local economy.
These improvements at CEIP Bonavista are part of a package of four projects funded by the Provincial Council. Other initiatives include the creation of 'cool spaces' at the Municipal Sports Center to combat heatwaves and the purchase of a new generator for the council building.
