The city of Ontinyent will host the 41st International Puppet Show of Vall d'Albaida with two stage productions at the Sala Gomis. The program includes the show "Filar", by Antonella D’Ascenzi, aimed at students from educational centers, and "Viva!", by the company La Loquace Cie, an object theater piece for an adult audience.
The Councilor for Culture, Àlex Borrell, highlighted the importance of the Festival in bringing quality performing arts to Ontinyent, combining activities for children with plays that address profound social and historical issues for adults. Borrell also acknowledged the collaboration with the Mancomunitat de Municipis de la Vall d'Albaida in making this regional cultural program possible.
"Filar", a creation by Antonella D’Ascenzi, blends dance, puppetry, and visual theater in a 40-minute piece that explores the invisible bonds connecting people through the dialogue between a dancer and a string puppet. The performance is poetic and sensitive, inviting reflection on connection, empathy, and human relationships.
The play "Filar" will be presented in two morning sessions for students. The first, at 09:30 AM, will host 40 students from La Solana, 178 from La Concepció school, and 45 from CEIP Vicente Gironés. The second session, at 11:00 AM, will gather 255 students from Carmelo Ripoll school and 30 from Sant Vicent Ferrer d'Agullent school. In total, nearly 550 schoolchildren will experience this artistic event.
At 8:00 PM, the program continues with "Viva!". This 70-minute object theater performance, recommended for ages 12 and up, is based on a true story: a feminicide that occurred during the Franco dictatorship and remained silenced within a family for decades. The play has received several accolades, including the Award for Best Documentary Theater Performance at FETEN Gijón 2026 and the Drac d'Or Award at the Fira de Titelles de Lleida 2024.
Tickets for "Viva!" are priced at 8 euros (general admission) and 6 euros (discounted). They can be purchased through the Caixa Ontinyent website and at the Casa de Cultura.
