The region of La Safor faces a new red alert for extreme heat, with predicted highs of 44 degrees Celsius, prompting local councils to implement citizen protection measures.

La Safor is facing a new red alert for extreme heat, activated by the State Meteorological Agency for this Wednesday, with temperatures that could reach 44 degrees Celsius. Given this situation, the various town councils in the region have launched a series of preventive measures and remind the public of the importance of hydration, sun protection, and attention to vulnerable groups.
The Gandia City Council has suspended municipal outdoor sports activities, except for aquatic ones, and has prohibited making fires or using machinery that could generate sparks due to the extreme risk of forest fires. Additionally, the opening hours of the swimming pools in Beniopa and Roís de Corella have been extended until 10:30 PM, with free access until full capacity. Climate shelters are available to citizens in the social centers of Corea and Joan Climent, as well as the Archaeological Museum, open from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
In Tavernes de la Valldigna, the Cecopal has been activated due to the extreme risk of fires, prohibiting access to forest areas and mountain trails. Local Police, Civil Guard, and Civil Protection will maintain a special surveillance and control device for natural spaces, which will be cordoned off. The municipal swimming pool will also offer free access from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Other towns have also taken measures. In Almiserà, a guided and theatricalized visit to Parc del Molí has been suspended. In Daimús, the third edition of the sand sculpture contest, initially scheduled for this Wednesday, has been postponed and will finally be held on Friday, August 21st.
