The city of Oliva is preparing for the seventh edition of the National 'Coques' Competition, an event organized by the Tourism Department and the AGACO Gastronomic Association, to be held on September 21st.

The Tourism Department of the Oliva City Council, led by councilor Salva Llopis, has organized, in collaboration with the Gastronomic and Cultural Association Amics de les Coques d’Oliva (AGACO), the seventh edition of the National 'Coques' City of Oliva Competition. The event will take place on September 21st at the Oliva Polivalent Centre.
The competition was presented at the City Council's Plenary Hall, with the participation of councilor Salva Llopis, AGACO president Pepe Cotaina, and Oliva's mayor, Yolanda Pastor. The event unveiled the poster, competition rules, and the jury, composed of renowned chefs and gastronomy experts.

"I want to thank everyone involved in the organization of the competition for their effort. I must say that we have already exceeded 50% of the available places for registration, with a large number of chefs from Oliva, which makes us very excited because it means that Oliva's professionals feel part of the project, beyond its national dimension."

Pepe Cotaina · AGACO President

"On September 21st, Oliva will once again become a meeting point for gastronomy. We will welcome professionals from the sector, hospitality schools, high-level chefs, and an exceptional professional jury who will have the difficult task of evaluating the different proposals. Gastronomy allows us to explain who we are in a very direct way. Therefore, from the Tourism Department, we continue to bet on giving visibility to our gastronomy and promoting events that can put Oliva on the gastronomic map."

Salva Llopis · Tourism Councilor

"Today we talk about 'coques', about our humble, tasty, and wonderful 'coca d'Oliva'. A seemingly simple dish, but extraordinary, that combines with everything, which we must cherish and promote as one of the main values of our rich gastronomy and our municipality's tourist offering, because it is. Today we present a national competition that we also want to be a festival open to the public. That's why we invite everyone, residents of Oliva and visitors, to come and enjoy the 'coques', their preparation, and the jury's work, and also to taste them, because we will have a popular breakfast!"

Yolanda Pastor · Mayor of Oliva
The competition will offer a total of 7 prizes, including a first prize of €1,000, a trophy, and a diploma. The deadline for registration is September 16th. The rules and registration form are available for consultation.
