The mayor of Gandia, José Manuel Prieto, along with several council members and festival director Alfred Sáez, have verified today that all preparations for the fourth edition of the Mediterránea Festival are complete. The musical event will commence this Thursday and run until Saturday, August 15th, once again making Gandia a prime location for live music during the summer.
The festival features a quality lineup including artists such as Love of Lesbian, as part of their farewell tour, Carlos Ares, Ultraligera, Siloé, Ginebras, and Miss Caffeina. The event blends music, heritage, culture, and the city, with activities extending beyond the main venue.
The mayor highlighted that festivals are an "important tourist and city offering" and that Mediterránea is now a "consolidated edition" that makes Gandia a preferred destination.
Security and prevention operations have been reinforced with the Local Police and other security forces, alongside municipal services involved in the festival's logistics, including cleaning, maintenance, and parks and gardens brigades.
The City Council has prepared a special security and prevention plan, which includes increased police presence and a Violet and LGTBIQ+ Point for support and prevention against situations of gender-based violence or LGTBI-phobia.
This year, festival hours have been reduced to improve coexistence with residents. Opening times have been shifted later to 6:00 PM, and closing times earlier to 4:00 AM. Stage locations have also been adjusted, and efforts have been made to avoid increasing sound levels, with lower equipment power than in previous editions.
The festival integrates cultural activities such as the "Mediterránea al Carrer" series, featuring performances by El Niño Jesús, Lisasinson, and Volavent, as well as an acoustic concert by Valiente Bosque at the Palau Ducal dels Borja.
The Councilor for Tourism and Culture, Balbina Sendra, emphasized that Gandia is "a city of festivals" and that Mediterránea is "truly ours," eagerly anticipated by both citizens and visitors, creating synergies with heritage, gastronomy, and the tourism sector.
The festival maintains its philosophy of prioritizing the quality of the experience over quantity, offering an intimate and family-friendly event, away from large crowds and commercial circuits.
Alfred Sáez confirmed that everything is ready and invited attendees to enjoy the program, highlighting the quality of the indie lineup and concluding that "enjoying Mediterránea is enjoying Gandia."
The mayor expressed gratitude for the organization's and the promoting company's continued commitment to Gandia, as well as the efforts of municipal workers, operators, and security teams ensuring the festival's smooth execution.
