The first phase of the project, focused on building retaining walls to condition the cemetery's slope, is in its final stage. Once these tasks are completed, the construction of 48 new niches will commence, thereby increasing the facility's capacity.
The mayor, Lara Romero, and the Councilor for Public Services, José Enrique Cuñat, have visited the site to oversee the progress of the works. Romero highlighted the necessity of this action, emphasizing the budgetary effort made to meet the cemetery's current and future needs.
The current urban planning regulations, which prevent expansion in width, have necessitated a vertical approach to the project. This solution will allow for increased capacity without occupying additional land.
The total investment for this initial phase and the construction of the new niches amounts to approximately 305,000 euros. The works, which began in April, are scheduled for completion before the end of the year.
Cuñat confirmed constant monitoring of the work to ensure deadlines are met, with the aim of completing the entire project before the year concludes.
