The conferences, organized on the occasion of World Mental Health Day (October 10th), were open to the public and featured the screening of the documentary 'Searching for My Own Name' as their central event. This documentary served as a focal point for reflecting on mental health realities, with the presence of the actress and the author of the book '9 Names', Maria Huerta.
Subsequently, a round table discussion took place with healthcare professionals, experts sharing their personal experiences, and community resource professionals. The aim was to delve into key aspects for understanding and improving mental health care and social inclusion.
“"These first conferences have served to promote and strengthen community work in mental health, and to highlight how the treatment of people with severe mental health problems has evolved throughout history."
The SASEM, a member of the Network, expresses gratitude for the participation of all speakers and, especially, for that of Emilio Moratal, a SASEM participant and expert by experience.
The conferences were organized by the Safor Mental Health Network and the IES Veles e Vents del Grau i Platja de Gandia, with the collaboration of the Gandia City Council and Durplastics.
The Safor Mental Health Network is a reference space where various social entities from the region meet periodically to coordinate and provide comprehensive care for people with mental health problems.
