The International Animation Short Film Festival, Cortoons Festival, will take place in Gandia from October 23rd to 25th, with the support of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the Gandia City Council, and the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC).

The opening session, on Friday, October 23rd, starting at 10:00 AM, will be held in the Aula Magna of the UPV university campus. This special screening, with free admission, is aimed at students and will feature the feature film Mariposas negras, winner of the 2025 Goya Award for best animated film. The film, directed by David Baute, tells the story of three women who leave their countries due to climate change.
The program for this session will begin with a brief introduction to the history of image animation and will conclude with a screening of several short films produced in the Valencian Community.
The festival promotes quality audiovisual animation and is celebrating a new edition this year. The complete program can be consulted on the festival's official website: www.cortoons.es.
