Unemployment rises 1.63% in Ribera Baixa in the last year

The region adds 64 more job seekers, reaching 4,002, with a notable increase in services and youth unemployment.

Ribera Baixa has registered an increase of 64 job seekers in the last year, bringing the total number of unemployed to 4,002, representing a 1.63% rise in the region.

The services sector has been the main driver of this growth, adding 109 more unemployed individuals, while construction has also seen an increase in job seekers by 21. The group with no prior economic activity has grown slightly by five people. On a positive note, industry has reduced its unemployment rate by 57 people and agriculture by 14.
The gender gap persists, with women accounting for 61.07% of the region's total unemployment (2,444 unemployed, 44 more than a year ago), compared to 1,558 men registered (20 more). The strong surge in youth unemployment among those under 25 stands out, growing by 28.28% with 56 new registrations.
Almussafes leads the drop in unemployment with 52 fewer people (-12.71%), going from 409 to 357 job seekers, with improvements for both women and men, and particularly in the industrial sector. Sueca, the regional capital, has reduced its unemployment by 29 people (-1.96%), reaching 1,449 job seekers, with a notable decrease in industry and among those with no prior employment.
In contrast, Cullera registers an increase of 29 unemployed individuals (+2.62%), reaching 1,137 unemployed, mainly in the female group and the services sector. Smaller municipalities like Llaurí and Riola show the most pronounced percentage increases, with rises of 37.50% and 36.92% respectively. Polinyà de Xúquer, Albalat de la Ribera, and Corbera also add unemployed individuals.
Sollana adds 16 unemployed people, while Benicull de Xúquer grows by four. Favara is the only exception downwards in this group, reducing its unemployment by eight people (-7.48%). Fortaleny maintains its overall figure, although with an exchange between male and female individual unemployment.
