Almussafes City Council and Holding Empresarial Cecotec Innovaciones, S.L. have signed a protocol of actions to promote the establishment of a large gigafactory dedicated to the manufacture of industrialized housing in the municipality, a strategic project forecasting an investment of 150 million euros and the creation of approximately 4,000 jobs.
The future plant, to be developed in the expansion of the ZND-IN1 industrial estate, included in the revision of Almussafes' General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU), would span over 515,000 square meters. This project represents a significant step forward in the municipal strategy to diversify the productive fabric and secure the town's industrial future, reducing dependence on a single sector.
The initiative stems from numerous discussions and negotiations driven by the Mayor's office since early 2026. The projection is for the facility to achieve a production capacity of up to 6,000 homes annually, applying automation, robotization, and digitalization processes characteristic of advanced industry to the construction sector.
Almussafes City Council views this project as an opportunity to leverage the accumulated industrial knowledge, the network of auxiliary companies, the availability of skilled workers, and its prime logistical location. The protocol includes collaboration with the Local Development Agency for employment intermediation and support in disseminating job offers, aiming to move towards full employment.
The Mayor of Almussafes, Toni González, highlighted the strategic dimension of the agreement and the work carried out in recent months. He noted that the 150 million euro investment and the forecast of 4,000 jobs could mark a turning point for the municipality, aiming to secure its industrial future and move towards full employment, with the Local Development Agency playing a key role in intermediation and training.
The future gigafactory aims to become one of Europe's leading plants for industrialized housing construction. Almussafes was chosen due to its established industrial ecosystem, the presence of qualified suppliers and professionals, its industrial culture, and excellent logistical connectivity. The City Council will undertake the necessary urban planning and administrative procedures, promoting the urban development of the ZND-IN1 sector.
