The Casa de la Cultura in Alzira hosts the inauguration of the exhibition ‘Jaume I: els hereus i el llegat del rei’ (James I: The Heirs and the King's Legacy) starting today at 7:30 PM. The event, organized by the Federation of Moorish and Christian Factions and Companies of Alzira, also presents a collection of festival posters, a diorama, and the screening of the short film ‘La Noche del Murciélago’ (The Bat's Night).
This short film, directed by Manolo Quintanilla, is the result of a collaboration between the Federation and the director. Filmed around the Xúquer River, it features actors and actresses from Alzira's factions. The production offers a humorous, comic-book-style reinterpretation of the legend of the bat attributed to James I.
The legend tells how, during the siege of Valencia, a bat alerted James I to a surprise night attack by the Muslim army, enabling his victory. Quintanilla's work incorporates Batman, the superhero associated with bats, into this retelling of the story.
The short film will be screened in multiple sessions throughout the exhibition's run, which will be open to the public until September 18th.
