Severe storms and winds up to 149 km/h hit La Ribera

Sumacàrcer records the strongest gust, with multiple incidents in the region due to rain and strong winds.

The Valencian Community has begun to experience severe storms this Thursday, with winds reaching up to 149 km/h in Sumacàrcer and causing significant damage in La Ribera.

The most intense wind gusts were recorded in Sumacàrcer, at 149 km/h, as reported by the Valencian Meteorology Association (Avamet). Other towns such as Alzira (143 km/h), Corbera (125 km/h), l'Alcúdia (114 km/h), Benimuslem (106 km/h), Carcaixent (105 km/h), Gavarda (105 km/h), Castelló (103 km/h), Sueca (103 km/h), and Cotes (101 km/h) also experienced very strong winds.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) explained that the storm, originating in southern Valencia, is moving towards the sea through the area of Cullera, El Perelló, and El Saler. Due to its intensity, the arrival of new storm cells from the Region of Murcia is warned for the next hour.
Personnel from the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Valencia responded to around a dozen incidents in La Ribera, mainly in Alzira, Massalavés, Benimuslem, and Algemesí, caused by rain and wind. Meanwhile, the Firefighters of the Valencia City Council reported only one incident, according to the Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Center (CCE).
