The Federation of Moorish and Christian Compares and Filas of Alzira has organized the historical retrospective titled ‘James I: the heirs and the king’s legacy’. The exhibition reviews the history of the monarchs of Aragon, from James I to Ferdinand the Catholic, through informative panels and illustrations by the Alzira-based artist Miguel Ángel Muñoz.
In addition to information about the sovereigns, the exhibition includes the designs submitted for the official festival poster and a diorama recreating the conquest of Alzira by King James I.
The work stages the legend surrounding James I's bat in a comical way, with an aesthetic based on the comic world and a modern vision.
As a parallel activity, on Thursday, September 10th, the short film ‘The Bat's Night’ (‘La noche del murciélago’), directed by Manolo Quintanilla, will premiere. This film, shot in Alzira, humorously addresses the legend of the bat associated with James I, using a comic-inspired aesthetic and a contemporary perspective.
