The Plaza Mayor in Castelló was filled last night by around 200 Argentinian fans residing in the city to celebrate their national team's qualification for the World Cup Final, which will be played this Sunday against Spain. The celebration included flags, chants, music, firecrackers, flares, and fireworks.
Anticipation for the final is already palpable in the city. Given the expected large turnout, especially if Spain wins, the City Council is finalizing the choice of location for a giant screen to follow the match live. Discussions are underway whether the broadcast will remain in the Plaza Mayor or move to a larger venue.
If the event stays in the Plaza Mayor, capacity controls will be implemented, following the same protocol as other large-scale events, as announced by the mayor, Begoña Carrasco. Furthermore, the Local Police are already working on a special security plan to enhance surveillance and prevent potential incidents during the fan gathering.
