The Benifaió City Council has taken a decisive step towards executing one of the most significant urban interventions in the coming years: the complete redevelopment of Germanies Avenue. This project will also include improvements to the municipality's sanitation and drainage network.
The initiative is part of the Integrated Action Plan (PAI) for the Functional Area connecting Benifaió, Alcudia, Llombai, and Alfarp. Through this plan, 6 million euros from European funding will be mobilized to carry out various actions across the four municipalities.
Specifically for Benifaió, the works will focus on Germanies Avenue and involve the implementation of a separate sanitation network. Additionally, the capacity of the urban drainage system will be expanded, and the public space will be entirely redeveloped.
This intervention is particularly important for reducing the risk of flooding during intense rainfall episodes and 'gota fría' (DANA) events. The aim is to strengthen hydraulic infrastructure and increase the municipality's resilience against future extreme weather phenomena.
The transformation of Germanies Avenue will extend beyond drainage improvements. It will involve renovating one of Benifaió's main urban arteries, enhancing the functionality and safety of the public space.
This plan stems from the coordination between the Mancomunitat of La Ribera Alta and the city councils of Benifaió, Alcudia, Llombai, and Alfarp. The shared objective is to rebuild, adapt, and prepare the municipalities for new climate challenges.
This represents a future investment for Benifaió, enabling the modernization of infrastructure, the transformation of Germanies Avenue, and progress towards a safer, more resilient, and better-prepared municipality.
