The town of Benifaió has celebrated its awaited Procession of Fire, a centuries-old ritual that this year gathered 619 registered participants and launched over 4,000 rockets.

The patron saint festivities in Benifaió featured the Procession of Fire this Thursday. After a break in the weather, gunpowder once again illuminated the town's streets to accompany the image of the Divine Aurora.
The patron saint was illuminated by golden sparks during her general procession, an event that once again demonstrated a great capacity for drawing crowds. A total of 619 people participated in this celebration.
It is estimated that over 4,000 rockets were fired during this centuries-old ritual, recognized as a festival of tourist interest and a local intangible heritage asset. The celebration's own music, consisting of bells, solemn music, and the crackling of rockets, provided the soundtrack.
Popularly known as the Festa dels Fadrins (Festival of the Bachelors), this procession brings together people of all ages around the tradition of gunpowder. Benifaió's patron saint festivities continue, but many are already eagerly awaiting next year's Procession of Fire.
