On September 18, 2026, a stone pine tree located next to the Felip II de la Murta bridge in Alzira will receive a special tag as part of the European EUTreeTag 2026 campaign.

This initiative, now in its second edition after the success of 2024, aims to raise awareness about the significance of trees in urban environments, with a special focus on mature specimens. The campaign seeks to highlight the added value of trees, considered essential for the habitability of towns and cities.
Across Europe, over 1000 trees in 278 cities across 10 countries will receive informative tags. These tags will quantify, using the i-Tree engine program, ecosystem services such as stored CO₂, annual oxygen provided per person, or avoided stormwater runoff.
In Spain, a total of 19 entities, including Alzira, are participating in the #EUTreeTag campaign. The goal is to disseminate the value of trees among citizens, promoting greater awareness of their importance for health and well-being.
The tree selected by Alzira, an emblematic stone pine, was chosen for its significant value to the community, both now and in the future. The initiative emphasizes that all trees in the city hold great importance.
The EUTreeTag campaign is driven by thirteen leading European organizations in the field of urban trees. Their common mission is to demonstrate the ecosystem benefits of trees and promote their importance in countries such as Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Germany, Norway, and Sweden. In Spain, the Arbocity Association has led the promotion of the initiative.
