Alzira students will have at least three local holidays during next year's Fallas festivities, in addition to December 7th, according to the approved school calendar.

The Municipal School Council of Alzira has approved the school calendar for the 2026/27 academic year, establishing December 7th and March 17th and 18th as local holidays, coinciding with the Fallas days preceding San José.
Furthermore, a proposal was put forward to also declare March 16th a holiday, in exchange for December 22nd, 2026, remaining a school day. This request aims to avoid repeating situations like the current year, when a similar modification was processed exceptionally.
The proposal to declare March 16th a holiday is pending consultation with all school councils of Alzira's educational centers, who must provide their feedback by July 15th. Subsequently, on July 16th, the Municipal School Council will decide whether to submit the modification to the Ministry of Education.
The Councilor for Education, Virtus Piera, emphasized the importance of not repeating this year's situation, noting that any calendar changes must come at the expense of Christmas or Easter holidays, as the school year cannot be officially extended or altered.
The modification processed this year already resulted in March 16th being a holiday, based on mobility issues due to the presence of tents and Fallas decorations in the streets.
