The town of Alzira has seen its public spaces improved with the installation of new urban furniture for rest and leisure. The project, funded by the Consorci de la Ribera, was made possible by subsidies granted by the Generalitat Valenciana to localities affected by the recent storm (dana).
These financial aids, regulated by Decree 63/2025 of the Consell, aim to recover urban infrastructure, restore tourist resources, and mitigate future climate risks in municipalities that suffered storm damage.
The new equipment includes five benches, three bike racks, and nine picnic tables. Two of the tables feature an accessible design for people with reduced mobility, and two chess tables and one ping-pong table have also been added.
The furniture has been strategically distributed in three high-traffic areas: Parc dels Furs, next to the petanque courts; Pinada del Malecó; and the Mirador del Xúquer area. These locations now offer better conditions for sports, recreation, and outdoor leisure.
From the Department of Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition, its spokesperson and mayor, Alfons Domínguez, highlighted that "with the incorporation of this infrastructure, we are expanding the provision and diversifying the available furniture for outdoor leisure," thereby enhancing coexistence with nature.
