Algemesí demands rustic IBI write-off and zero tax module for crop losses
The council requests urgent fiscal measures due to severe agricultural sector losses, affecting 80% of the persimmon crop.

The Algemesí City Council has unanimously approved demanding urgent fiscal and economic measures from the administrations due to significant agricultural sector losses during 2026.
The council requests the write-off of the rustic IBI for 2026 and 2027, the application of the zero module in income tax declarations for affected agricultural and livestock activities, direct aid, zero-interest loans, and improvements in agricultural insurance.
The proposal responds to a challenging year marked by drought periods, high temperatures, and episodes of wind, hail, and thermal bursts, particularly severe on August 20th. It is estimated that about 80% of the persimmon crop in the Algemesí area has been seriously affected.
In addition to adverse weather, costs of fuel and phytosanitary products have increased, pests have appeared, and fields affected by the 2024 flood are still facing difficulties.
The State Government is asked to authorize the write-off of rustic IBI for the 2026 and 2027 tax years, with financial compensation for the council. A maximum reduction of income tax modules to zero for the 2026 tax year is also requested.
Regarding insurance, it is requested that compensation for agricultural incidents not be counted as ordinary income, and that Agroseguro advance the start of wind damage coverage from September 1st to August 1st.
The proposal calls for non-reimbursable grants, zero-interest credit lines, tax benefits, and measures on agricultural contributions from competent administrations to compensate for production losses and increased maintenance costs.
The Plenary also urges the Generalitat Valenciana government to implement urgent own aid measures, considering not only lost harvests but also lost labor days and the risk of land abandonment.
