The municipality of Benifaió has activated extraordinary measures in response to the alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast for today, October 1, 2026. The Municipal Emergency Coordination Center (CECOPAL) has made decisions to safeguard the health and safety of citizens, following health recommendations.
Between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, under an orange alert, outdoor sports and extracurricular activities have been suspended, and the Municipal Cemetery, parks, gardens, and green areas, as well as the Water Treatment Plant, have been ordered to close. It is reminded that during this phase, the IES (secondary school) does not hold classes.
From 5:00 PM onwards, with the implementation of the red alert, the suspension of academic activities, outdoor sports and extracurricular activities, and the closure of all municipal facilities and sports installations, including the La Llimera Center, will be extended. The Municipal Cemetery and the Water Treatment Plant will also remain closed.
The alert is expected to last until 2:00 AM on Friday, October 2. Forecasts for academic activities on that day will be provided later.
The council recommends avoiding unnecessary travel, not walking near ravines or rivers, obeying signs in tunnels and flood-prone areas, moving vehicles from risk zones, and staying informed through official channels such as 112 GVA.
In case of emergency, citizens can call 112 or the Local Police of Benifaió at 961 78 08 08. The City Council has shared a link with recommendations from the Generalitat Valenciana for intense rainfall events.
These measures will remain in effect as long as the alert is active and may be modified according to meteorological developments. Citizen cooperation is appreciated.
