The city of Villena is preparing to welcome visitors during the Pilar Bridge holiday, celebrated from October 9th to 12th, with an expanded cultural and heritage offering. Interested individuals will be able to learn about the town's history through various activities and guided tours.
The Castle of La Atalaya will offer visits on the mornings of October 9th to 12th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. In the afternoons, it will only be open on Saturday the 10th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and will be closed on the afternoons of Friday the 9th, Sunday the 11th, and Monday the 12th. Guided tours are scheduled for 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, and 12:30 PM, with an additional tour at 4:30 PM on Saturday afternoon. The last free entry will be at 1:20 PM and 4:20 PM.
The Archpriestal Church of Santiago will be open from Friday, October 9th, to Monday, October 12th, although on Sunday the 12th it will remain open for worship until 1:00 PM. Guided tours, departing from the Tourist Info Villena office, will take place on the 9th, 10th, and 12th at 12:00 PM and 1:15 PM.
The Festero Museum will also open its doors from Friday, October 9th, to Monday, October 12th, with guided tours at 11:15 AM and 12:30 PM from the Tourist Info located in Plaza Santiago. Meanwhile, the Navarro Santafé Museum will be open from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM during the same days.
One of the notable new features is the theatricalized tour of the Historic Center, titled 'Pasado, Ciudad Carlos V' (Past, City of Charles V), which will be held on October 10th and 11th at 11:00 AM. This activity transports attendees to the modernist era of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, showing how a new era arrived in the city, driven by the wine trade and the rise of a new intellectual elite.
The Villena Museum will be temporarily closed due to works.
