The Local Operational Coordination Center (CECOPAL) in Utiel held a meeting chaired by the mayor, Ricardo Gabaldón, to coordinate the special emergency device for the rain and storm alert. The meteorological situation, with a yellow level activated today, September 28th, is expected to evolve to orange level from 00:00 hours until 08:00 on September 29th.
As preventive measures, the Utiel City Council has agreed to close the park on Paseo de la Alameda. Furthermore, personnel from the municipal works and services brigade, Local Police, Civil Protection Service, and the Social Services department have been instructed to remain on alert to act in case of any incident. The condition of the drains will also be checked.
On-site monitoring of the Surveillance Points (PCPV) will be carried out, checking the water depth at PCPV-10 (Puente de la Alameda) and PCPV-14 (Avenida Don Julio López Tarín). Bridges and fords over the Magro and Madre rivers, as well as the Rambla de la Torre, will also be monitored.
The device includes preparations for traffic diversions and barricading at conflict points such as the Puente del Camino del Cementerio, the Puente de la Mesilla on the CV-390, and the southern entrance bridge to Utiel. The area around strategic facilities like the N-III gas station will also be supervised.
The public is advised to avoid parks and wooded areas during strong winds, reduce unnecessary travel, and, when driving, to avoid viaducts or flood-prone areas and reduce speed. It is requested to stay informed through official channels and for educational centers to maintain caution.
