The Councilor for Infrastructures and Urban Services, Sergio Toledo, presented the prize, a mini glass igloo, to the draw winners. The initiative, organized by Ecovidrio in collaboration with the Castellón City Council, aims to acknowledge the commitment of coastal municipalities and the hospitality sector to sustainability and glass container recycling.
The draw was launched via social media to encourage citizens to participate in the final stretch of the Ecovidrio Green Flag challenge. The goal is to involve the public in the effort for the city to achieve this recognition for its commitment to sustainability. Winners responded in the comments of the @ajuntcastello and @ecovidrio posts, stating their favorite place in Castellón and tagging two people.
The 'Green Flags Movement' campaign involved over 60 establishments, including bars, restaurants, and beach bars, which actively participated in selective glass collection during peak tourist months. These businesses received wheeled bins for waste disposal, and containers were installed in their vicinity.

Sergio Toledo highlighted that this 'Green Flags Movement' works hand-in-hand with the city's hospitality sector, improving the environment around businesses and fostering responsible habits. The main objective is for Castellón to achieve one of the nine green flags awarded to municipalities that have most promoted sustainability during the summer.
The awarding of the Green Flag considers criteria such as the increase in selective glass collection, the participation of the hospitality sector, and the communication and awareness actions developed by each municipality. Castellón participated in this Ecovidrio initiative alongside 28 other municipalities in the Valencian Community.
