The pilgrimage, starting at 9:00 PM from the church to the Chapel of El Carmen on the beach, aims to encourage greater participation from residents and visitors thanks to more pleasant temperatures and new participation habits, especially among young people.
During the route, there will be a stop at the municipal paella areas for a 'sobaquillo' dinner (bring-your-own-food picnic), accompanied by a DJ set from the Clavarios and Festeros de San Vicente. This initiative aims to turn the journey into a festive meeting point without losing its traditional character.
Children will play a prominent role carrying the traditional ‘farolets de meló d'Alger’ (Algerian melon lanterns), which will illuminate the path and offer a different spectacle than previous editions, thus reinforcing one of the celebration's most symbolic elements.
To facilitate participation, a 'tren escoba' (sweeper train, a support vehicle) will be available, especially for the elderly or those with reduced mobility, ensuring that physical conditions are not an impediment to enjoying the day.
The mayor, Ismael Minguet, highlighted that the schedule change responds to the desire to keep local traditions alive by adapting them to current circumstances, seeking new ways to enhance the pilgrimage's appeal across different generations.
