The work was carried out in the Mayorazga, Pilar, Avenida de Portugal, Melilla neighborhood, and Pou enclosures. This intervention allowed for the replacement of the most deteriorated containers and the expansion of waste collection points in areas where a greater need had been detected.
During the visit to the facilities, municipal officials listened to proposals from users. Among the most prominent requests are the installation of new benches and the review of perimeter fencing to ensure the safety of the animals.
The council recalled that, according to data from the Department of Animal Welfare, there are nearly 13,000 registered pets in Vila-real. This figure justifies continuous investment in facilities adapted to the needs of families and their pets.
Taking advantage of this action, the local government reminded citizens of the obligation to maintain responsible ownership. The Citizen Coexistence Ordinance provides for sanctions for those who do not pick up their dogs' waste, a measure also included in the Animal Welfare Law of the Valencian Community.
