The project, which has a budget of 3.1 million euros, aims primarily to optimize water management and strengthen the protection of the Mijares River. According to institutional sources, the action will reduce the risk of spills and improve the system's response capacity during heavy rainfall episodes.
This intervention is part of a broader investment plan by EPSAR and the Generalitat in the region, valued at 18.5 million euros. Planned technical improvements include the reorganization of the collector network to separate industrial and urban flows, as well as the implementation of energy efficiency and self-supply solutions.
The development of these works has required prior coordination with various bodies, such as the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation and ADIF, to ensure compliance with current regulations and integration with existing infrastructure. In parallel, the expansion of the joint treatment plant serving Vila-real, Onda, Betxí, and Les Alqueries is being planned.
